Advocacy ProjectThe advocacy project from Rhetoric and Civic Life II was meant to have each of us create a piece of rhetoric in favor of a cause we support. Our projects had to be able to live in the real world, and be able to engage people beyond the context of our classroom and as an evaluation to our instructor. The project was to include a call to action, and act in favor of one side or another in a divisive issue.
My project dealt with the theory of evolution in popular perception, and the arguments of those who oppose it. With some help from my teacher, I found that the best choice of medium to convey this message was through the writing of satire, and so I wrote three articles that cited real examples of arguments against evolution, and pointed out some flaws or contradictions in these arguments.
